Winter Getaway

In a prior post I mentioned our January Tradition wherein the husband and I escape early-year chaos for a weekend getaway.  Truthfully, we don’t just take this weekend trip because the new year is stressful, but also because I love winter weather and crave chilled air and cozy fireplaces the way most people crave sandy beaches.  While we get some of that in our home town the weather here is pretty mild, so escaping to the NC mountains is a sure-fire way for me to get my fix.  Bonus:  Unless you’re going to a ski resort, you can usually get really good rates at mountain cabins and hotels in the winter.

The Gentleman and I have made the Inn on Biltmore Estate our annual getaway.  This cozy inn sits right on the sprawling Biltmore Estate in Asheville and features great food, a winery, tons of hiking trails and a huge veranda with the most perfect views of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  This past weekend was pretty rainy, but that only made the huge fireplace in the lobby more comforting and forced invited us indoors for wine-tastings and a tour of the famous Biltmore House.

Amazing trip as always and the Inn continues to get two thumbs up from us!

Ah, the veranda:
