Forty before Forty

40 things I’d like to do before I’m 40 years old.  I’ve got 6 years and change.

  1. Attend culinary school.
  2. Own a German Shepherd.
  3. Take a photography class.
  4. Live on a farm.
  5. Relearn the piano.
  6. Be able to do 20 pull-ups.
  7. Visit the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial.
  8. Submit a book to a publisher.
  9. Get immunotherapy for my allergies.
  10. Be on clear mission in my workplace.
  11. Reread War and Peace.
  12. Revisit Scotland.
  13. Start a wine collection.
  14. Teach a cooking class.
  15. Read the whole bible.
  16. Wrangle a herd of animals from atop a horse.
  17. Go to  Asia.
  18. See a UNC Basketball championship game in person.
  19. Organize all of my photos.
  20. Fly to and eat at a Michelin Four-Star Restaurant.
  21. Go snowshoeing.
  22. Take up yoga. Doing it 2ish days a week as of October 2012
  23. Learn  Tai Chi. Once a week via DVD!
  24. Run a marathon. Honolulu Marathon in 2012
  25. Take my parents on vacation.
  26. Cook a goose. Thanksgiving 2012!
  27. Elope. Done for all intents and purposes.
  28. Host an ongoing Bible study. Hosted one every Monday for over 2 years.
  29. Learn to like apples.  I’m marking this off.  I tried for years.  It’s not going to happen. Yuck!
  30. Perfect homemade English muffins. Now to post the recipe!
  31. Volunteer consistently for a non-profit. Salvation Army.
  32. Have professional head shots taken. Thanks, Amaris!
  33. Drink an expensive glass of Scotch. It was about $60.  Couldn’t finish it.  Yuck.
  34. Minimally understand investing. Remember:  I said minimally.
  35. Send thank you notes to teachers who positively influenced me. I’ve done a few – still working on it.
  36. Start wearing a watch. Thanks to the Gentleman.
  37. Develop a morning workout habit. Developed and abandoned.  I’m a night owl.
  38. Host Thanksgiving in my own home. Done several times.
  39. Establish a perennial garden. Established just a few months before I moved…but it’s still there!
  40. Keep a consistently updated blog. Going strong.
