Some Dirt: 30 for 30 Remix

Y’all know I want you to notice the dirt, right?  Well, take notice;  here’s some dirt.  God likes to remind me that I can’t do it all and He’s been busy sending me memos to that effect for  the last few weeks. I’ve been participating in the 30 for 30 Remix Fashion Challenge all month and I’ve only photographed about a third of my outfits.

I don’t like being a slacker, though, so I took a few minutes this week to remember all the outfits I’ve worn (not sure I succeeded…), put them back on and photograph them.  That’s right.  I’m THAT kind of person.  The process was DIRTY.  First of all, my photos are so blurry!  Maybe I need a new glasses prescription.  Secondly, I realized that some of my go-to outfits just.don’t.look.good.  Take a look at what I’ve been wearing as chosen from these options.

Some outfits I like (in no particular order):

Outfit one includes items 1, 7, 20 and 26 plus a leopard print belt and pearls (yep).  Obviously a work day!  Outfit two is what I wore to a surprise gal-pal date to the ballet and features items 12, 20 and 26 plus a belt – easy!  Outfit three was for a casual work day at home and inludes 11, 13, 22, and 29.  Outfit four was for another work day and featured a fun necklace I bought in St. Martin, my new watch (!) and items 15, 18 and 25.  Finally, outfit five was worn on a weekend and included a cheap-o beaded necklace and items 3, 10, 22 and 28.

And then the trainwrecks:

Okay, okay number one there isn’t too bad (how could it be?)…it’s just boring.  And blurry.  That’s items 21, 22 and 28.  Number two?  UGH!  I look SO frumpy in this and had no idea!  Now taking recommendations for how to improve this dress (items 2 and 27)

30 for 30 Remix: Days 8,9,10

It’s been a rough couple of days in our house, but I managed a few hastily shot photos. Day 8 was a partial day in the home office. I wore items 14, 20 and 26. Added a cheap-o little belt for some waist definition and a silver necklace.

Day 9 was a sick day.  In between conference calls, I battled a stomach virus :( and sported some mismatched jammies.   As before I’ve provided an artist’s rendering so you can imagine how I looked.

Day 10 was spent in a hospital waiting room while The Gentleman’s shoulder was repaired (he’s home and resting!) so I had to be comfy.  I chose items 12, 19, and 28. I did a bad job with the picture, but it was SO EARLY and we were in a rush…sorry!

30 for 30 Remix Day 7

Whew – Now I’m all caught up!  Today was an in-office day again, mostly because I’m marooned here (my car is in the shop).  I paired together items 16, 22 and 29.  I’m also wearing my glasses today because I stared at a computer screen for almost 10 hours yesterday and my poor little eyes need a break from contacts!  Add another favorite scarf and here I am!

30 for 30 Remix – Days 5 & 6

Still catching up here and we’re going to call days 5 and 6 FAILURES!  Sort of.  Day 5 was Super Bowl Sunday, so the football jersey ruled.  I realize that’s not part of my 30 for 30 wardrobe, but c’mon… it’s the Super Bowl!  Day 6 was a REALLY LONG day at work.  It was a 16 hour day at work.  I was in meetings or a car or a Starbucks all day.  I didn’t have a second to take a picture.

I forgot.

I’m sorry.

BUT, I did draw this artistic representation of what I wore and if you check out my 30 items here, you can imagine putting together item numbers 1, 13, 17 and 26 paired with a gold bead necklace and some simple stud earrings, right?

Thanks, as always, to Vanessa and Kara for hosting this challenge!

30 for 30 Remix: Days 3 & 4

I am late! I am late!  The Gentleman and I hosted a Super Bowl party this weekend and spent a lot of time prepping to put the house on the market and then Monday hit me like a TON of bricks and…. I’m full of excuses aren’t I?  Needless to say, I’m behind on sharing my latest outfits for the 30 for 30 Remix Challenge.

Here are the 30 options I have to choose from.

Here is Day 3:

Another casual day in the office!  This combines items 8, 19 and 25 with curled hair (because I only wash it every other day and can’t stand it unwashed AND uncurled), and a silver cuff bracelet.

And Day 4:

Saturday!  I’ll be honest.  I was in my pajamas most of this rainy, dreary Saturday, but the Gentleman and I went to a hockey game that night, so this is what I wore.  It combines numbers 15, 22 and 28.  I also added some thin bangles and OPI We’ll Always Have Paris nail polish. (And an awkward pose… maybe it is better when I do self portraits?)

30 for 30 Remix: Days 1 and 2

Choosing 30 items that would cover 30 workday outfits was a bit of a challenge for me because half the time I work from my home office dressed  in pajamas casually and half the time I’m out at meetings in decidedly more formal business attire.  It also doesn’t help that my beloved North Carolina can’t decide what season we’re in (68 degrees outside on February 2!).  I focused on layers for the weather and neutral bases for business-wear so hopefully I’ve covered my bases.  Here are my first two outfits

Day 1: Strategy meeting in DC.  I combined  items 8, 23, 24 and 26 for this outfit.  Layers for uncertain weather and my favorite black heels for running through the airport!  I added a scarf tied infinity style.

Day 2:  Day in the office (read: 77 conference calls).  Best to be comfortable and since it’s so warm here today, I stopped at just one layer on top.  This combines items 9, 22 and 28 with  my rice bead necklace (thanks in-laws!) and my charm bracelet (thanks Dad!).

I promise I’ll get better pictures from now on!

Remix!

For the next month I’m participating in the 30 for 30 Remix hosted by my blog friends Vanessa  and Kara.  This fashion challenge goes like this:  Pick 30 items from your closet and for the next 30 days remix them into different outfits.  I can add in accessories like jewelery, scarves and belts that don’t count towards my 30 items to keep things interesting.

The challenge actually started yesterday, but I was running from hotel to meeting to airplane and didn’t have time to actually get my outfit posted.  That post is coming soon (along with today’s outfit), but for now check out the 30 items I chose to remix!

1)Jacket-Brooks Brothers; 2) Wrap Dress – Ann Taylor; 3)Tee – Old Navy; 4)Cardigan -Velvet 5)Turtleneck – Target; 6)Tunic Sweater – Local Boutique; 7) Shirt – Land’s End; 8)Sweater – Ann Taylor; 9) Top – Old Navy; 10) Cardigan – Free People; 11)Cardigan (Target)

30?

You’re probably wondering where number 30 is.  Me too!  I just couldn’t decide on a 30th item, so I’m going to leave this as a wild card.  I am certain that at least once during the 30 days, I’m going to be at a loss for what to wear and at that point, I’ll add in number 30.  So excited to start mixing and matching!
