Last Friday, as I stood on our roof top lanai watering the container garden I heard a roar in the distance. Our home is situated almost equidistant between a Marine base where C-130′s regularly take-off and land and an Air Force base (yes, we’re in the Army and no, it’s not an accident that we live no where near the Army base), so the sound of jet engines in the distance isn’t uncommon.
This roar kept getting louder and louder, though, and before I knew it all the ambient sound was drowned out as these guys roared over head. They were low enough that I ducked – you know you’d do it too…
Blue Angels practice continued all day over our little community of Kailua. I snapped dozens of pictures from our rooftop, but the real air show was this weekend and thanks to perfectly cloud-filtered sunlight and front-row seats, I got some amazing “action” photos of these talented pilots in action. Hopefully, you’ll be chanting “USA! USA!” by the end of this post!
C-17. The Gentleman spent many years jumping out of these.
Blue Angels “posing” in front of some spooky looking Ko’olau Mountains.
Tribute to Top Gun? I’m pretty sure #4 is snapping a Polaroid of #2.
Welcome! Here I am inspired by C.S. Lewis: “It is when we notice the dirt that God is most present in us; it is the very sign of His presence." This is my life, dirt and all. Click to learn more.
